Extra Credit Policy
For students concerned about raising their grades extra credit is available. One assignment per subject is allowed per grading period. Students must turn in said assignments before the last day of each grading period. Their assignment will be graded and awarded points under the subject as "extra credit" in the grade book. Extra Credit is only awarded to students who clearly went the extra mile in effort.
English Language Arts Current Event Article - student chooses an interesting article from a more recent newspaper or magazine issue.
1. Read article 2. Clip article out and staple to lined paper 3. Write a one paragraph summary 4. Write one paragraph on why they choose that article 5. Write one paragraph on what was most surprising about this article, and why the main event does not fit in with that you already knew about the topic Turn In: Lined paper with title of article, author, and student name at the top with 3 complete paragraphs (3-4 sentences each), along with stapled article attached. Total Points Possible: 100 25 points per paragraph (75) 15 points for correct heading |
MathResearch a famous mathematician and their contributions to math. Present your findings in a creative way, such as an oral presentation with visual aids, Powerpoint presentation, performing a skit, etc.
1. Choose a Famous Mathematician 2. Research this person, and their biggest discoveries or contributions to the development of mathematical understandings. 3. Talk to Ms. Lassen about the day you would like to present to the class Present: 5 minute presentation, with a visual aid, and of a clearly practiced/rehearsed presentation Total Points Possible: 100 75 points for facts discovered and their connection to contributing to the concept of math 15 points for presentation |
